**Fiatjaf and Pamplona clash over NIP-17 seals**
NIPs PR 2471 (fiatjaf, September 17) proposes dropping NIP-17's requirement that seal timestamps be randomized, arguing specs shouldn't defend against careless implementations. Vitor Pamplona is pushing back, noting seals (unlike rumors) persist on relays and the randomization protects against exactly the buggy or malicious clients fiatjaf wants to assume away. Open and unresolved — a real disagreement over the mainstream 1:1 DM scheme's metadata protection.
