#asknostr Seriously thinking about leaving the EU in the medium term, the trend towards an orwellian 1984 style environment seems to be increasing. Which countries would you recommend to consider to move to?

Better than USโ€ฆ.
Its a very complicated problem to solve. There is not much close and depending on what kind of lifestyle you want you will be very far away from your existing life. Turkey might be am interesting dark horse tho. Also prepare to be miserable with food quality ๐Ÿ˜…
Thats just bullshit. I cant even throw trash away without getting a fine or figuring out for 10mins how to properly separate everything in EUSSR while they take 50% of your income, on top of 20% VAT and mandatory yearly bribes so they let you keep the house you "own". Many places in the world are as secure as EU or more. Also EU is not really safe. Villages in most countries are, but cities are turning to shit or are already complete shit.

Tell me where you are and i might suggest an upgrade. But it's more of a discussion to have about what are you looking for in life, what are the compromises you're willing to do.
Trading liberty for safety is not a great deal in my book. You are free to optimize for whatever you want of course
For me its more about supporting good ideas, wherever you live you pay some taxes, but If you see the trend of that country is towards something better long term I believe you have a more fulfiled life. Its not so much about what I want, its more about what the world needs, and voting with your feet makes a difference if enough people do it. If I move away from the EU, the EU will get a bit less taxes, and country X that I move to will get a bit more. The question is if this kind of place even exists or are we living in a time where there aren't any good options. And even if it exists, the next question is if they have accessible immigration policies.

It's always a scale of grey. But within the EU, Czechia is still a decent place, good security, people are usually peaceful, Prague easy to live for a foreigner. Easy use of bitcoin. Decent taxation too (although that feels like an oxymoron). The current president is a military general, so I'm not sure where it will bring this country, but people love him cause he's handsome. So there's that. For great weather in Europe, and bitcoin lifestyle also consider Madeira. Be warned, Portugal is a socialist hell, so don't become a tax resident there (not more than 180 days). For taxes - Paraguay. Also nice calm life there, paraguayans are not Latinos. The countryside is boring and decimated by endless soybean fields. But you can buy cheap land and build on it without much state intervention. The country is one of the safest in Americas and on a rise. People are very nice. Cheap to live. Bad infrastructure. But close to awesome travel destinations: Brasil, Argentina, Chile, Bolivia.. Oh and amazing grassfed beef, if you're into that.
