However, I'm curious why people always want to import their old social stock. After all, it's unlikely the culture will the the same, so equally unlikely old connections will work the same way. We seem to live in a world where no one wants a clean break. It maybe because I'm from another era, but I think half the fun of moving to a new city was leaving your old life behind. No one does that any more. Everyone stays in contact with all the people they've ever know. I wonder if that's a good thing.
