 So yes, I think you could.. and it's nice being able to copy around an image (you can clone, export, import) them very easily.

Exactly! However I think I'm trying to solve a provisioning problem the wrong way. Something about being able to just turn things on and off without mutation of the system is what I was interested in playing with. I'm playing with ignition and Fedora CoreOS as we speak.
