I'm going to take a break from Nostr, not sure how long.
The narrative here seems to be the same as on Bluesky, minus the celebrations of death. A whole heap of "both sides", "no right vs. left", "Jews did it", "false flag" and so on, and so forth. Not to mention 99% of whatever else I see is just Bitcoin, BitChat, Knots, whatever other drama is going on in the BTC community.
The latter doesn't shock me in the least but I would've thought Nostr's community would've at least had the decency to wait a few weeks (at least) before going full schizo.
I'm at a point in my life where I really do NOT need constant negativity and nonsense in my day. I'm struggling just to find a job despite being capable of doing the ones I'm applying for; moreover, even lower end jobs outside of my industry simply are not available where I live. Dealing with drama and schizo posts aren't things I want to deal with right now.
I will almost certainly be back as I've taken breaks before, and I still firmly believe in the importance of Nostr as a protocol, but man... we really need more people on here posting stuff that's DIFFERENT for once. Gets so old seeing the same garbage day in, day out.

Curious to know what client you are using and if it has any mute features. Also, curious about how hard you have hit the unfollow button. I initially struggled with nostr until it really sunk in that I could control curation.
Yeah, the dialogue here is pretty fucked up as of late. I’ve been unfollowing lots of people.
I use Amethyst on mobile, Primal on PC. I've used the mute filters before, they never seem to stick. I can mute something and then weeks/months later, it shows up in my feed again.
Nostr can be great, but it’s still social media, and I think it’s always a good idea to take a break from social media. Good for you for recognizing you need a break. I probably do too. Best of luck to you in your job search!
You just have to really be picky on your follows and deal with slow flow. It’s almost a benefit because you can’t doom scroll
