If you had told me that a legacy media outlet like the FT would have the word "libertarian" in the front page... I would not have believed it. Milei is a ray of hope the likes of which I have not seen since Ron Paul ran for president. image

I was very sceptical of Milei, but he balanced the budget in his first month in office, something that I consider nothing short of a miracle. I have seen it promised by politicians countless times, a promise never fulfilled and often not even attempted. His reform efforts are sincere and very brave. I don't agree with him on foreign policy, he is clearly not in the line of Ron Paul's A Foreign Policy of Freedom: Peace, Commerce, and Honest Friendship". However I don't know if his pro-USA (and by extension pro-Israel) stance is Realpolitik convenience or truly what he believes. Nevertheless I think that Argentina's foreign policy has very little relevance on the world stage. Their economic policy on the other hand not only has very palpable effects on the people of Argentina, who I wish the best for, but also a significant exemplary effect on much of South America and perhaps further. He is also the only politician in the world clearly and unambiguously defending libertarian ideas. He has actually mentioned the NAP in multiple speeches. I challenge you to find another president that ever has.

I value nostr:nprofile1qyt8wumn8ghj7ct5d3shxtnwdaehgu3wd3skueqpz4mhxue69uhk2er9dchxummnw3ezumrpdejqqgzr08nkh7nk4q9cmw02wkfprkgtk0n8kgszlzyqe384ll3qv5rp453f6g5h opinion highly. However I think that he is wrong about Milei. Milei inherited the Argentinian ponzi. He is very clearly trying to exit it. Not an easy job at all! Maybe an impossible one at which he will fail. But he is trying very hard, something that none of the other politicians riding slower or faster fiat ponzi schemes are even thinking of doing. We will have the answer when (if?) Milei delivers on his campaign promise to end the Peso, end the central bank and dollarise. I don't even agree that dollarisation is the best idea... but it would be an improvement on the last 60 years of Peso inflation. I can't help but suspect that Saif is influenced by Milei's foreign policy stance, which I also disagree with. But it should not blind us to the reforms that he is successfully implementing in the face of massive resistance form the Argentinian status quo.

Could be. I have no way of verifying that. But I can verify if he has balanced the budget and reduced inflation. I gave up on politicians long ago and believe that technology will do more to free us than any ruler making speeches about freedom. That's why I put my efforts on Bitcoin and Nostr. But I can't avoid following with interest a sitting president that claims to be anarcho-capitalist. He could be lying (probably, he is a politician after all)... time will tell.

Oh his fiscal side does seem to mostly match the promises, and yea, that's probably for the best. I'd just prefer to see more on the libertarian leaning right more outspoken against Zionist imperialism. If only because it's annoying to see the leftists get some sort of claim over the cause of liberty for a people who are fighting for their traditional values, families, and homeland. Maybe Milei's just cosplaying, idk. He's sort of neutral in my book. If he can make an example of Austrian success I guess its a solid win, much like how Mamdani destroying NYC is going to be.
