Primal has an integrated Strike-based KYC Bitcoin wallet. Not making any value judgements – I see the use case.
Do you know whether they connect your npub to your KYC data? Has anyone looked at the code? Even if I was ok with KYC'ing with Strike, I would never connect the KYC data to my npub. Would you?

Hard pass
I would guess that in principle, it should be possible to build it so that they don't know which Strike user has which npub.
Are they doing that? Or is there a database with npubs and identities somewhere? Would be great to know what we're dealing with nostr:npub12vkcxr0luzwp8e673v29eqjhrr7p9vqq8asav85swaepclllj09sylpugg.
fuck no
Never 💀💀💀💀💀💩💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀 (seeing the use case)
It’s likely they connect them even if by accident. For regulatory reasons they will at the very least be storing logs for a few years. Samurai leaked Xpubs despite explicitly being a privacy tool.
Devilish thing
Definitely no!
u know u can just lie there, right
Primal is more like V4Vcs than V4V
"I see KYC, custodial tools
I see them used 'gainst me and you
And I think to myself
I ain't touching that, thanks!"

Never.. never.. never.. ppl need to stop receiving zaps to strike app period there are other private ways. I dont understand why ppl would do tgat
Luckily their "kyc" is us typing in name and surname. My official name on my gov id is Hugh Gerection.
Lets hope primal doesn't start selling data to support opensats.
Thats what im waiting for.. hahahahaha
Primal Wallet KYC info is connected to the npub. We don’t share this info, per our privacy policy, but the connection exists.
Users who want to ensure that their privacy is preserved should not use KYC-based wallets. Within Primal, you can do so by using NWC to connect to your Mutiny Wallet. This is only available on Primal for Android atm.
Appreciate the clarity nostr:npub16c0nh3dnadzqpm76uctf5hqhe2lny344zsmpm6feee9p5rdxaa9q586nvr.
😂
Sure; these things need to be understood.
Thanks for bringing it up!
When a Primal Wallet user buys prepaid zaps from either Apple's or Google's store, what information is then gathered and how is that linked to the wallet or npub?
No further information is gathered at the time of in app purchase.
I called out Primal on this a while ago.
The response? None. Immediately dropped Primal.
Are you harvesting? Looks like it
Thank you for the clarification.
You are welcome!
Please remove the NWC option.
FUCK
If we just deposit sats into the primal wallet, is there any link?
If you activated Primal Wallet, the link exists.
is there any reason why you don't allow the user to choose to use a different wallet without NWC? so when you zap it just deep links into another wallet like most nostr clients do. the main reason i don't use the Primal mobile app is because this option is missing.
Any ETA on connecting to Mutiny with Primal for iOS?
thats why i uninstalled tbh
No reason other than not wanting to implement and maintain additional wallet connection logic. NWC seems like a good standard; I am sure more wallets will support it over time.
Is there a way I can just use alby on iOS?
I dont care about ensuring my privacy, heres my birth certificate, home address, and my pin number, come over sometime
This is a restriction on Apple's side. We had NWC support on iOS in testflight, but had to remove it to get app store approval.
deep linking is simpler than NWC though. only maintenance required is adding new wallets, but that doesn't happen often. i don't think any wallets would change their deep link cause that would break things for everyone. you can just copy pasta this if you're using swift for iOS.

Oooof.
There are a lot of hoops we need to jump through to make nostr accessible to the masses, especially if we want to include zapping. Not fun, but it has to be done imho, if we want to have a chance to grow nostr.
I know how to grow Nostr but all you people keep ignoring me.
Quiet nostr:npub1x9kazg2me72djw4n9n2lhe2pk3ngpe99n7pyzu7vyewxt5kuaxzqj68x2x 🤭
Primal is known as an easy onboarding experience for nostr. To have default KYC info collection that “isn’t shared” and *can* be bypassed, but only for one wallet option and only android, is pretty fucked up
Which npub?
Be the change you want to see
If an iOS user changes their wallet on primal .net, will it change in iOS?
Same, no offense to Primal, I think it's a great project, but privacy is important to me.
The fact that there are so many other clients to use is THE super power for users. Nostr's the best.
And then there's pleb like me..
Don't like Primal coz the vibe don't match 😂
Feels something disturbing the #force
Before you know it, primal requires shotgun KYC to zap and withdrawal
US government requires primal to disclose all customer information connected to NPUBs for "tax purposes"
Useful to have a lesser decoy. Better than disappearring completely is looking like you are active, but its only a small subset of your activity.
Nope.
Not sure what you mean by "changes their wallet on primal .net". We don't offer Primal Wallet through a web interface yet. Do you mean change the browser extension you are using with the web app? That shouldn't affect anything on iOS.
Which KYC information was necessary to get the primal wallet? I can’t remember anymore, but was it not just an email?
We ask for name, email, country and date of birth. That's the minimum amount of info we need to provide a custodial wallet service legally.
Don't you already do the connection if you just simply set strike as your lightning wallet? You don't need in my opinion any integration.

#asknostr #nostr
I never entered those but I have APK version. Is that différent ?
Nope, never
Dislike for KYC
Yeah, I'm using Strike lightning address directly via Damus 🙃
Once the connection is made and then replaced by using NWC...is there still a history of the connection?
is there any verification of the information gathered? it seemed quite light to me.
