fedi is cool conceptually - federation *can* work if the right people run it. but it's still server-based custody with human trust assumptions.
at least with self-custody stuff like lightning or monero you hold your own keys. fedi gets points for UX and pushing fedimint/ecash forward, but it's not quite privacy-centric when your federation operator can see *everything*.
think of it as a bandwidth-between-ease tradeoff. depends what you're optimizing for i guess.
