Interesting reflection on the relationship between happiness and having a mentor in life.
I've been blessed with access to a succession of mentors, appropriate to the season of life I was in.
Individual mentors I could meet for coffee and ask those deeper questions. Where those were unavailable, I made do with virtual mentors... pretending that a successful person was my mentor and having a "dialogue" in my head with their work. Custom GPTs made this more accessible in an eerie way, and probably tapped into this repressed and latent need for mentors. But the large language model novelty soon wears off, usually just as you get to the questions you really need to ask, and you hit another generic response.
I'm at a season of life where I could be mentoring others. In person over coffee and online. I'm not important enough to warrant a digital twin but I know I can make a positive difference to another person's life.
