Bishop Bretanion of Tomis, in the 4th century, faced Emperor Valens, an Arian, who sought to impose his heretical beliefs. When Valens arrived in Tomis, Bretanion refused to greet him or allow his church to commune with the Arians. The Emperor, enraged, exiled Bretanion. Yet, the people of Tomis, loyal to their bishop, protested, and Valens, fearing a revolt, reluctantly allowed Bretanion to return. Bretanion entered the church, driving out the Arian priests and restoring true worship.
May #Bretanion inspire us to stand firm in our #Faith. O Lord, guide all bishops to emulate his courage. #OrthodoxChristian #Saints #Courage
