I fucking hate dealing with banks. Most days if you ask me why I work on Bitcoin, I'll probably say something about eliminating the temptation for the state to print money, with all of its disastrous effects. But every time I have to deal with a bank and must grovel to use my own fucking money, I feel the urge to hoist the black flag and start slitting throats. On days like today my work writing about Bitcoin technology is fueled entirely by rage and spite.

You may be impressed by the forceful *tone* of harding's post here. But I think the most important point is the slightly-less appreciated, nowadays, fact that Bitcoin is not just 'finite supply', but 'bypass a corrupt power system, fuck the banks'. Bitcoin 'grew out of' the era of Wikileaks, operation chokepoint, and of course '08 crisis up to '14 Cyprus confiscation event. And if you struggle to resonate with this 'anti bank' position, despite how blatant it was with e.g. the Canadian trucker event, then I suggest you need to shake yourself up a bit and do *something* unusual for once, because the level of "normie" you have to be to not experience problems with banks is slowly reaching inhuman levels.

You should use one to cut your soaps, would make high quality viewing
Sometimes when walking downtown, if I see a random bank I go inside. I approach the teller and ask if they can deposit or exchange bitcoin yet. When they tell me no, I just say, “okay, thanks. Just looking forward to it.” And then I leave.

I feel this in my soul. On what planet should it be this hard to access your own money? And it’s none of their business what I do with my own money.
Following for this. Can’t wait to read your rage writings. The best writings are birthed from these moments. Raise the flag and write the words. 🏴‍☠️📝
My bank put me on fraud investigation after I reported a glitch to them where they were marking various purchases on my card as credits (i.e. refunds) instead of debits. After initially denying the glitch they realised something was wrong — yet somehow blamed me - the customer who reported the issue to them. They froze all my accounts including unrelated business accounts. After several weeks of investigation, they realised it was an internal glitch… but by that point the fraud team had ruled my account be permanently closed. The most infuriating thing was the disrespect I was shown throughout the whole process. Denial of the issue, sending me to FAQs on how a credit card works, making me wait hours on the phone… then after realising the glitch, assuming I was some reckless kid trying to steal money. I can’t wait until I’m completely off fiat, I’m sick of using banks. Hell, I’m considering a move to the USA just to use @FOLD BITCOIN (pArOdY)

A… fucking… men G! I feel you and I’m with you
I tried to get an international bank transfer to Greece in September for my wedding. In the end, the venue owner’s son luckily had a New York bank account for his business and we managed to do it without the international transfer. With bitcoin it would have been done in 10 minutes no questions asked.
The funny thing is bank employees are fucking lemmings who don't even have the slightest idea how big the grift is and how tenuous the whole system is holding together
Bastards aren't they... Total waste of time and energy going to a bank. P2P 4EVA.
They're just going to get worse.. I'm doing this out of spite at this point. I'm sick of the bullshit.

Isn't FOLD another custodian? So you are changing one KYCed fiat custodian for a KYCed BTC custodian operating as a licensed business by a fiat empire (US). Won't end well, but you might know that already.

If you store money in a custodian it's not your money anymore. I am stunned that there are Bitcoiners on Nostr that still don't know about this.
Agree except for the last part, it’s even worse when they hold your bitcoin hostage (as a former customer of a bitcoin custodian that went bust, though I am lucky I got the little I had on there back)
Speaking from my experience with the FIAT banking system, I'm not surprised. I've positioned myself so i could theoretically move off FIAT completely (It still would be challenging) due to the issues i have had with Scotiabank. I recommend every Bitcoiner to at least think about this themselves.

We closed a bank account and they owed us a credit so we had a negative balance. After a month, we noticed they were charging us interest on the negative balance and money they owed us. I thought I had seen it all.
