This is how all of my nostr projects have started... I have a need. Everything else sucks or isn't what I want. So I build it myself.

Most likely πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ It’s how all good projects get started.
If you build it for your needs then probably it’s not dogfood and others would use it as well unless it’s not public, I think it’s a good approach for great app ideas
gnostream and grain are very much open source and I'd like to think they're both really good. GitHub is linked in my bio.
I see there's a macos folder, but no build on the releases page, is it because of apple's signing requirements? Anyhow, I tried the web version, it looks really nice, although I wasn't able to get it to work β€” the bunker URLs don't have any relay urls, and the nostrconnect strings I tried didn't finish the flow. If I can find the time I'll contribute, this is much better than starting from scratch!
Sure, I'll see what I can do. I also recorded a quick screen share of me trying to log in to flotilla β€” there are a few UI bugs (or UX issues), and it shows bunker and nostrconnect failing to connect. It looks like peridot might be ignoring relay selections (given that the bunker url doesn't have any included, which is why that flow is failing). I'm preparing a PR this morning to hopefully fix some of the bigger pain points. A lot of the bugs above only occur on macos, which is weird.
