its not a hard fork... also if it doesn't get enough hashrate its not gonna produce new blocks because it activates right after difficulty adjustment on purpose. and if it gets enough hashrate, your core node will just accept the blocks it produces. its a softfork... like you know segwit. i guess you never looked into it yourself...
