Thank you for good feedback. These pictures are evolving with time.. styles, techniques might change a bit. I told myself however, to not do it in digital form.
I am a self-taught illustrator and lack confidence in my ability to critique others' art, I keep thinking they'd wonder -"what does she know?" But I feel we are born to create and with an innate sense for the aesthetics. I find a lot of so-called art that sells for lots of money looking horrible. I do also see beautiful pieces enjoying that benefit, but a lot of beautiful pieces that go underappreciated.
I feel like a lot of art is being made to shock and provoke. I am sure I may be wrong, but to me that is not art. I feel like art can shock & provoke, but beauty & its aesthetic value shouldn't be stripped from it.
I am very un-techy and I'm seldomly attracted to digital artwork. But I have a brain injury that, literally, wakes me in a panic up 70 times/hr every night (unless I am heavily sedated). Because I do not achieve rest, I am basically... uh... drunk, intoxicated, "high..." a lot of the time. This is in no way a blessing, but it makes me enjoy many different kinds of art. I enjoy my own art a lot more than I should because it makes me believe others would enjoy it as much.
I forget most folks depth perception is not as affected or disturbed as mine. I forget I'm the only one in my household that sees flat images as multi-dimensional. I forget that when I draw with a lot of tiny little lines, I'm the only one who sees things popping out of the paper & move.
So I am trying to learn to create gifs of my illustrations. I can't achieve making the gifs look exactly the same way I see them for others, but I only attempt to get a resemblance.
That's my primary use for digital tools.
This is an example of one:
I used art pen ink, color pencils, & water based markers by Zebra for the drawing, then used Corel PhotoPaint from 2010 & Canva to make the gif.
Thank you for sharing your painting with me!!!
It draws you in!!!
Your personal story is very interesting. Thank you for sharing 🧡
Regarding art in general, there has always been some kind of snobbery around it but don't let that distract you. I agree that there is too much emphasis on shock-value with art today and also its full of nepotism.
I think your attitude towards it is healthy and remember that your creations are there for you first and foremost. If someone else likes what you do then great, but that's not most important.
Your depth perception is clearly evident in the piece you shared, it's great.
Sounds like art is good therapy for you as well, keep it up and share your work with us here 😊
I appreciate your kindness. I have a lot of trouble condensing things down and I tend to over explain.
I will definitely keep sharing my illustrations!
U're 100% right. Our art is for us first. We can't expect anyone to like what we make if we don't love what we make ourselves. We should always be the primary measuring gauge!
😃
