@MAHDOOD we do have plans to implement an option like this, however this is not a basic feature. Also, seeing as most users would rather only be notified when being replied to directly, this is not a priority for us.
Please stay tuned for future updates that could potentially carry this feature.

This response is total BS and is starting to seem like an excuse to just not fix the reply bug. Primal keeps shipping new features and funding shirtless men to advertise this app but it doesn’t even work properly. I literally can’t have a basic conversation with people in a small thread (3 or more people). Do you understand how much of a problem that is? Right now, if a mobile primal user responded to this note, you will NOT see it in your notifications. Why wouldn’t you want to see that? The reply could say something critical of your update and you’d never know. Someone is jumping into the conversation with all of us. That’s the point but you’ll never see it if they’re a mobile primal user. You’ll see it if you’re using damus or another client. I usually have to tell new primal users to switch to damus so they can actually engage in threads. Because we’re not all influencers, we want to see all notifications addressed to us. And if we don’t, we just mute. When they switch, it immediately improves their nostr experience. This is how people grow their follower base and find new people to engage with so they don’t have to go back to X. That’s the point of talking publicly on nostr instead of just jumping into DMs. Why would you have a conversation out in the open if you don’t want to see other people’s replies? Primal mobile literally degrades the nostr experience. Do you understand that? People join nostr on primal and think it’s dead then leave. Well maybe they wouldn’t think nostr is dead if they could see their damn notifications! And if you’re getting too many notifications, you can just hit the mute button.
Mobile primal is the only platform I’m aware of that doesn’t support this basic feature. And yeah I know hellthreads are a problem but this bug was here before those threads became an issue and the easy fix is to just mute the hellthread. Not mute normal notifications.
And who are these users that don’t want to be tagged in a 3 person thread? Most primal users have no idea this is a problem and it’s what makes primal unusable as a standalone client. I miss countless notifications on primal. I can’t use this client anymore. And you guys lose plenty of users to other clients because of this. I know because I have to explain to primal users that this bug exists and that it’s on the list of things to be fixed that never gets fixed. They’re shocked to know how many replies they never saw and they end up switching to damus or another client. If you guys want to retain users, this issue needs to be fixed immediately.
Also you guys have been telling me that this issue will be fixed for close to 2 years now and I just don’t believe you guys are actually going to do anything about it. I really like primal and wanna keep using it but this shit is not usable. And these little AI features and new influencer studio setups are not good enough to overcome a basic bug.
Primal gets a lot of shit from the nostr community because you guys do some unconventional things but I’ve always defended primal because I think we’re all on the same team trying to grow nostr. But I don’t appreciate being dicked around. If you guys aren’t going to fix this issue, then just say so. You, miljan, and Odell said this was a priority issue that was going to be fixed. Now you’re saying it’s not after nearly two years of me asking. Stop wasting my time.
I’m deleting primal until this gets resolved.
Long reply threads are the bane of Nostr client devs because they're hard to implement, but I do believe that people would like to talk to the people taking the time to respond under their notes, even if those replies are nested under the direct replies. And if a sub thread really is uninteresting, to be able to mute all replies under one of your replies would be godsend.
But if Primal's primary customers really are just legacy platforms influencers, then I can see why it's not a priority. Those users typically don't want to talk to their followers, but would rather farm the engagement and the zaps. Who cares if they're not notified of people having conversations. Those aren't valuable to the influencer except to run through an AI to gain some sentiment metrics or keywords.
It should be a priority.
