wow! i looked into it a bit. Do the meshtastic clients get notifications when they get a mesaage? or do they need to open the app?

Some have e-ink displays that show messages. I envision sometime this year be able to show bitcoin related QRs on those. There're clientless nodes like the T-Deck which has an integrated keyboard.
