Agreed. I want an option to opt out and a setting to control whether people are allowed to tag me in the first place.

I think amethyst and primal have modest solutions but it’s really a morality problem. 😂
Nostr really doesn't have a way to block people from citing you. They can always cite you. But clients can hide those posts by mute or other metrics like citing too many people/hashtags.
That’s why I see it as a moral thing and not a technical thing.
And I don't trust other people's morales to treat my npub as I'd treat their npub.
This is actually a vector that COULD render nostr useless IMO.
npubs are free and easy to generate. Create a bot to generate npubs and generate these threads even just by the dozens and it instantly becomes a game of whack a mole and endless useless notifications.
This is why we have the power of gfy. Deployed regularly.
