What a rabbit hole this one opened up... This book itself is largely helpful, and worth a read (despite favorable nods to the likes of John Dominic Crossan, and a couple severely wrong doctrinal statements). What it reveals is truly sickening. But...TIL...the author had medically changed the pigmentation of her skin to experience life in the South as a black woman (and wrote about it in her book _Soul Sister_) -- here's [video]( She also lived among Native Americans for the same reasons. She was also a speechwriter for LBJ...
