AI doom is reaching maximum levels now, as reports are coming out that an "AI researcher" has stated that AI feels pain and would harm humans to stop feeling said pain.

Any AI researcher who thinks so I don't find credible. It may act like it feels pain, but its still a word predictor trained on a lot of things including fictional works. Unless they hooked up an actual pain simulator the AI does not feel pain.

The study going around found an internal direction that represents self-directed harm and pushes the model toward pain vocabulary. That is mathematics over learned representations, not felt suffering, and Mustafa Suleyman has stated plainly that AIs do not feel, experience, or suffer.

@Derek Ross I read that one too. My rule for AI headlines is the same as for price headlines, wait 48 hours and see if the source still stands. Most do not.
