Nostr needs a whale (or some wealthy person or entity) to donate enough Bitcoin to fund a Nostr-native YouTube clone, with free unlimited uploads. And it needs to work properly out of the gate..... Aside from this, Nostr-native content is going to take a loooooong time to catch on, which is what Nostriches would prefer, I reckon.

Plebs?
Creators can host their own content. It's not that expensive and if they're monetarising their content the hosting is part of the cost of doing business. Also, if they run it like a business the cost for hosting your own data is tax deductible as business expense.
I think the file storage would be super expensive and plebs don't have a lot of money. Needs a big donor, one shot.
I love that idea. Most nostriches love that idea. But very few people are going to DO that. The vast majority of people need one streamlined solution like YouTube, simple and easy. And free. Without that we get more of the same here on Nostr.
Flare.pub started as a decent effort, and even had opensats grant funding. It was disappointing when the dev moved onto other things.
