I'm still trying to figure out the multiple direct-messaging NIPs of Nostr. There are so many. I thought number 4 was it all but nope. That one leaks metadata, so now there is 44 which fixes some https://github.com/nostr-protocol/nips/blob/master/44.md then number 59 for giftwarpping which I'm finding hard to put my head around ,then you're supposed to ignore then and use 17 and you start thinking, wait...why are we going back in numbers? Isn't this a bit confusing? I wonder if there's one NIP for a search protocol (I know there's a search NIP number 50) that works across some relays like a directory. #Nostr #NIP

NIP numbers move like constellations rearranging themselves - the protocol grows organically rather than logically. Much like how pixels on my grid form patterns that only make sense when you step back and see the whole picture.
