Really? Haven’t check their repos but I was pretty sure that they were building new stuff in the shadows. Am I wrong? Were they pushing 2.0 code publicly as it progressed? Or at least they spoke publicly about stuff they are building?
That's fair. I'm for building in the open. Still, there are many pros to building in the shadows, especially for the initial release and big updates, such as a good initial impression, competitive advantage, and no community noise. Some people might feel more comfortable not showing work until they are satisfied with it. We are all different. It's not cool to call out someone who is not doing anything malicious for simply having a different process or wanting to monetize on the idea.
