I mean.. If you don't load anything (no counters, no replies, no zaps, no followers), then it's pretty fast.

I appreciate it too... But Yana has always been faster than Amethyst and they never went anywhere. Even supporting similar features.
Load the “other stuff” when scrolling stops? That seems doable.
We tested... People really didn't like the fast that they had to stop scrolling to see the reply number increase. People thought they didn't receive any new replies and missed stuff. So, we rolled that back :(
