Can't remember where I read it but there was either an article or a book that talked about gold being the best elelement for money due to its properties and BTC could have been configured a little different, like the cap or mining schedules and difficulties and the like. But there was an open spot on the periodical chart for a better money with an atomic weight of 0 and superior properties as money. It could only be discovered once per solar system and satosh discovered it and refined it and released it to the populous. I like that idea.
