I'm curious on trying it again but will I be forced to use the damus relay? because I blocked your relay on Amethyst. I don't want to use it because it's full of spam

Well your relay keeps sending me annoying airdrops prizes and asking me for my email or something that doesn't make sense. You need to stop that I don't want any prizes.

you should ask @ODELL, @miljan to stop. They’ve had a PR budget that includes having shills harass anyone naysaying Primal’s centralization, censorship, lack of adherence to standards, and poor user experience forever. Odds are 99% that they’re the ones doing it.

there is no solution. It’s either censor people and accept collateral damage or simply keep it open and selectively ban the really abuse ones. I’m choosing the latter.

It took email about 35 years to get a combination of whitelisting, DNSBLs, and Bayesian statistical content filters to contain spam. Nostr should, to a certain degree, look to similar solutions. But it doesn’t happen overnight, and no Nostr operator has the kind of resources to spend on spam that email did. Literally the anti-spam software market is billions of dollars.

I like your idea with custom lists, but it still sends the data to your phone. maybe it would be cool if the relay accepted filters from your pubkey

a very easy metric to identify spam as a relay operator is “is this user messaging lots of people a link on the same domain?” Because no real person does this. That plus use of “airdrop” should be instant tarpit.
