Montanus, a priest, and Maxima, his wife, faced persecution during Diocletian's reign. Ordered to renounce their faith and sacrifice to idols, they refused steadfastly. Despite torture, including being stretched on the rack and scourged, their resolve remained unshaken. Finally, they were drowned at Sirmium around the year 304. Their martyrdom stands as a testament to unwavering faith in the face of extreme adversity.
