My goals for no-gi jiujitsu this year in order of importancd.
1. Become proficient at defending against inside and outside heel hooks plus straight ankle locks
2. Develop a go to passing system
3. Learn finishing mechanics for my main head & arm chokes (Anaconda & D'arce)
Wrestlers' achilles heel — pun intended — are leg locks. And I'm no different.

I think the best leg lock defense is a better leg lock offense.
I like stepping inside the open guard with my right foot, getting the underhook and passing to the left.
Head and arm chokes are not my strength, I have short, stocky arms.
I completely agree.
I'm starting with leg lock offense so I know what my opponents are looking for.
I'm using Rob Biernacki's leg lock module https://bjjconcepts.net/ and then will check out Submeta https://submeta.io/.
A few minutes each day will pay dividends!
I use the straight ankle lock from ashi garami a lot, that's a great place to start and heel hooks are available for transitions. I also like option from 411/saddle/honey hole.
Thank you for the info!
