if the implementation is just about spamming a bunch of images at your friends that you decorate on your wall like an over-enthusiastic boy scout, then thats not really what I was thinking when I came up with the idea of the badge spec. maybe more concern is more of how its currently implemented in clients.

It does actually suck and itβs weird that nobody has addressed it in the past 2+ years, but I get that itβs not a huge priority.
Tis the nature of decentralization. Everyone can make badges. The trick is being selective about which ones you put on your own list. Not sure how clients could implement any differently. Also rarity based on pow is ALL wrong. Rarity should clearly be a ratio of total trusted pubkeys to awardees.
