Facts matter, but I do not think that is the role of the moderator if that is what you were asking. They're just there to ask questions, enforce the rules, and get the fuck out of the way.
That is what the post debate analysis shows are for. There is no way a moderator, in real time no less, can fact check and not involve their personal biases.
