Hi @inpc I think I have built our two-way Nostr-Owncast chat bridge.
It will be automated. Whenever you publish your stream to Nostr, it will check for your Owncast server and connect. Thereafter, every message on either platform will appear on both platforms.
... Assuming it works. I will deploy it and watch it on Monday. Keen to hear how it works for you

Oh hi @Sir Spencer - Wolf of KC ๐บ this would probably work for you too.
Do you kind of get what I'm planning? Would it be valuable for you?
We currently have a bridge from nostr to our IRC and a bridge from owncast to IRC as well ๐ we love our bridges and above all we love our IRC!
Ok that should be running now.
Next time you go live, it should โ
1. Automatically check your Nostr live, find the matching Owncast instance, and enter your chat
2. Bridge every Owncast chat message to Nostr
3. Bridge every Nostr chat message to Owncast
Should look and feel Owncast native, support custom emojis, link Nostr IDs out to njump, etc
If you can think of anything else you might like, lmk!
Hi Rod,
So, I'm afraid an additional bridge is going to cause duplicates as we already have our IRC, Owncast and nostr bridged! Thanks for reaching out but we've already got a bridge in play, we don't have a need for an additional one
I'm happy to blacklist your domain if you like. Is it owncast.bowlafterbowl.com ?
Ahh nice one, be cool to see how it works today. Without being too technical, how does the bridge work? Mainly wondering what handles the compute for the task.
It's running on my server.
Whenever it sees a Nostr livestream it looks up the domain, and then it checks if it's running Owncast, and if so it fires up the bridge.
For Nostr chats it connects to Owncast and posts a chat. Same in reverse, for Owncast chats it creates a new Nostr user and posts to relays.
It should work smooth. And I'll be around for your stream. If something goes wrong I'll just turn it off.
Nice, thanks Rod!
yep
