I like Christian values a lot. You can live by them without having to believe in God or the Bible literally.
It's not that complicated to me, or am I missing something here? Honest question.

If all you have is Christian ethics, but not Christ, you miss out on so much. If you believe that the universe and life are accidents and there is evolution of the fittest, then Christian ethics is inconsistent with those beliefs because Christian ethics calls for us to help the poor, the sick, and the weak. Evolution requires the weak to die so the strong can evolve. Christian ethics without Christ cause logical conflict.
To eat from the table but ignore the banquet, why it is happening, and who provided it is missing the whole point. You don't have to believe it is literal. In other words, the food will still give you sustenance, but you are missing so much richness.
