They’re not a great vehicle and the financial assistance that can be gained through universities often punishes if a 529 is present as is insinuates that candidate has money already.

Thanks, good to know. FTR I’m not giving to it, but her grandparents want to for tax reasons. I’ll advocate spending it on homeschooling costs / books / electronics for learning before she gets to college (if she goes to college).
