I was accused of being a Botticelli babe while rafting down the grand canyon with my mother and sister as a late teenager; the comment did not seem flattering at the time.

Yet i was raised as an outsider to surrounding culture dominated by not my phenotype, yet in reference to dominant media norms vs. people commenting and location at the time, my perception was likely still accurate.
