In the new Netflix version of Batman, Bruce Wayne is a young black kid growing up in Harlem, New York with bigoted parents who aren’t willing to accept the fact that he feels he was born in the wrong body. His whole life he wanted to be a bat, a female bat, and his evil fascist patriarchal Nazi parents couldn’t accept his truth. This is the story of this young child’s discovery of both his gender and species identity as every crime he solves brings him close to solving the ultimate question of: “Can I love myself?”
