This is just a symptom broken money. Take for example the percentage of average income now required to pay for essentials like your home, food and energy and how much time we must work to sustain this. Previously we had more time to indulge in hobbies, with friends…… who also had more spare time.
The financialisation of the world has also created a swathe of meaningless jobs where people don’t feel fulfilled. Or they have a job they quite enjoy but they are not paid their market value. So they sit at work, dreaming of a better life, desperate for more time to indulge their hobbies and know the only way to achieve this is to make it their career.
They tinker, they create, and then they post it to social media whilst they are sat in front of a spread sheet at work. And the thing is, sometimes they are successful and change their life. At least that’s how it went for me.
Don’t hate the player. Blame the game. And the game is a system of broken energy policy and broken money.
