nsec/npub are good digital IDs, ones you yourself freely choose. The entirety of internet transactions needs to change to leverage freedom as designed within voluntary participation and the nsec/npub concept.

If you accept state-administered digital ID to access services, whether it’s digital social accounts or travel identification, you need to ask yourself just how much you have given up—or will give up—for access, and understand you are not living free when you need the permission of someone else for transactions of any nature.
You post on X because the state currently allows you to do so. You buy on Amazon because the company permits you to continue to do so. You travel because your passport is not yet revoked.
Digital transactions need to be kept free and without intermediaries for all humanity to have a better future.
