I stopped speaking of blockchain or anything technical when orange pilling. Normies simply don’t need to know. Just like they didn’t know what the Swift network or Fedwire was!!
I pay with my bank instantly to anyone in my country for free. Buying things online from anywhere around the world is instant and free as far as I know. Might cost some small amount. Not sure. Sending money to a bank instantly another country is for sure slow and expensive. Just think it isn’t a very good argument for bitcoin. Speed and cost can be solved easily without bitcoin.
domestic instant payments are nice where available, but there’s a difference between quick credit and final settlement. final settlement can take 1-5 business days. traditional online shopping isn’t free either. merchants pay 2-3% fees on average, which consumers absorb. international fees are even higher at 2–7% lightning on Bitcoin gives true final settlement in seconds, globally, for fractions of a cent solving speed + cost without the legacy rails. there’s been solid progress in banking, but bitcoin offers a faster, cheaper parallel option 🧡
yes, “secure distributed ledger” is a great, easy way to put it 👏 the phones just represent one (of several) ways to send bitcoin, e.g. create a lightning invoice on one phone, scan the qr code and fulfill the invoice on another phone
