Oh yeah I agree that would definitely be great. I think Signal's requirements for a currency in their payment section is that it be a fast settlement AND private. Bitcoin is not fast or private Monero and zcash are not fast Lightning is not private Mobilecoin is fast AND private Ecash is fast AND private But since mobilecoin is too unknown and not easily acquired on mainstream exchanges no one uses it. Ecash can be easily turned into lightning and then into bitcoin. Its the obvious next best option.

I agree with almost everything you said, except about the Cashu, because if I were Signal, I wouldn't want to explain to my users that their coins are gone from the app. That would happen if the mint rugged them, whether it was a random mint or a dishonest Signal employee rigging the official Signal mint.

Valid point. I'm sure there are security measures of some kind that could be put in place to mitigate these issues, like running the mint in a secure enclave where signal employees can access it. Or maybe a balance limit so no one account can hold too much.
