I want to add a media note type for this, so that browsing in a media-only view would be much cleaner and potentially higher quality

Sounds perfect.
This might sound stupid but sometimes like a dumbass I try to like a pic with a double tap (instagram habit). Not sure how to make the UI work on Damus but something like that would be awesome.
