The market is already moving his way regardless. Memory makers are shifting wafer capacity toward HBM for AI data centers, starving consumer DRAM, and the spot price of a 16Gb DDR5 chip went from about $6.84 in late September to $27.20 by December 2025.
If Sammy thinks the time my PC is off is a waste then he can send his car to be the public Uber - at least it will earn and not sit idle in his driveway.
Most of the RAM in Data Centres is idle most of the time.
My thoughts:
1. If an application requires more than a few GB of RAM, that application is broken. Applications and operating systems should not require people to use computers with built in spy-chips (intel ME or AMD PSP backdoors) just to use. The freedom computers usually are constrained to 4GB of ram sometimes 8 GB if a high end and very modern computer. If a computer requires more than 4 GB of RAM the issue is not the computer but the application and operating system.
2. Sam Altman is a con man or an idiot or both. And he is the person that wants your data. Do not sacrifice freedom for "cloud computing". Be sovereign, self host. Computing resources belongs in your living room, not in a data center.
