Bill No. 6327, which proposes fines for promoting homosexuality, pedophilia and transgender ideology, has been submitted to the Ukrainian parliament for consideration.
The Ukrainian Constitution still states that marriage can only be concluded between a man and a woman. Article 21 of the Constitution of Ukraine "The Concept of Marriage", paragraph 1: "Marriage is a family union between a woman and a man, registered in the state registry office".
The draft law targeting LGBT propaganda, mainly authored by members of Zelensky's party, Servant of the People, aims to protect constitutional norms on family and childhood.
The bill cites studies arguing homosexuality can be "corrected" and that it is not innate but acquired through "immoral behavior," while proposing fines for offenders.
The draft law introduces penalties for "propaganda of pedophilia, homosexuality, and transgenderism," with fines ranging from 17,000 UAH for individuals to over 51,000 UAH for legal entities. Officials may face fines up to 85,000 UAH
