Deep thoughts over a cappuccino. If bitcoin is proof of work, and most people don't want to work, then most people won't have Bitcoin. But the ones who do will level up humanity like you've never seen.

I would argue that most people are happy to work IF the job interests or motivates them. Some of the laziest people in the world will do something if they are motivated to do so, what motivates you might not be what revs their motor though. Meanwhile even the most motivated person won't do anything if the job being done doesn't vibe with their needs or wants. Lets widen out your thought a bit and assume that you meant something like "Assuming a Universal Basic Income that covers all your needs and wants if you don't want or need to work, would you still work to level up humanity if you didn't have to?" Something like the world of Star Trek where they explore the galaxy without getting paid etc. A post scarcity world where all your basic needs are met and you just do things "because they are there!" Or maybe something more like The Culture where the AI's run society and the people do whatever they feel like doing at the time. I suspect that people would still do things that count as work when they were in the mood to do so, this probably wouldn't look like the 9-5, five days a week and a week or two off in the summer, jobs that we currently do. But people probably would still run small scale enterprises like a restaurant or shop, because they like being useful and meeting people - The majority of the population won't retreat into video games and pot if they are allowed to do things! But, if all those who didn't want to contribute didn't have to, they would be happy to stay out of the way of those who are levelling up humanity. This of course assumes that there are no organisations or collectives that actively wants to keep humanity down and repressed etc... Bitcoin is needed in todays society BECAUSE those with power are abusing it and devaluing the money we rely on to pay to live in this world. A post scarcity world wouldn't need Bitcoin in the same way. Still, it probably wouldn't hurt to get some...

Good morning 🫡 I think at some point "dollars(all fiat) won't be good here" meaning trade you dollars for bitcoin now while you can. Who knows at what point a large supply of bitcoin won't be for sale for fiat and can only be acquired through direct proof of work.
