Most people see Bitcoin as a granular topic within the category of investment. Therefore, that's the only conversation strain they'll humour it being discussed in (even then most people are closed minded about it) I see it as interwoven with many societal topics. And I know I wouldn't be taken seriously amongst friends if I tried talking about it within the context of, say, politics or philosophy. I have to then bite my lip many times to avoid being labelled as the 'crazy Bitcoin zealot'. My external is therefore non congruent with my internal, and that makes most discussions uncomfortable!

That captures it very well. It wouldn't be as troublesome if we didn't feel it would be beneficial to others. At one point in my teens I got really into following the NBA. But I wasn't sitting there thinking "Oh man! if only they knew how many points Allen Iverson put up last night! Their lives would be better!" There are so many touch points that keep Bitcoin to the forefront of my mind. I would like others to appreciate and understand the benefits. But sometimes I'm just sitting there with thoughts completely uncoupled from the conversation that everyone else is having.
