I had the same experience myself. Imgflip just does the job. Meming must be cheap to do. The tool doesn’t need to be sophisticated or feature‑rich; it just has to work and stay out of my way so I can create the meme I have in mind with about 80 % accuracy. I often don’t even want to do the initial 20 % of the work required for a meme. But I assume professional memers such as @corndalorian have different usage patterns for their meme tools. Our market, therefore, is a nice one. We are nostr pioneers creating a nostr native meme app. We don’t have competition from within (which makes me lazy in our #memely project).
