What has happened in Gaza is, in my opinion, a very serious issue. We in the Western world had direct visibility into the situation and still continued to support it. Countries such as Germany and the United States, among others, provide significant military aid to Israel. For a country like Germany in particular, with its history and responsibility for the murder of more than six million Jewish people during the Holocaust, it is deeply troubling to see weapons being sent into a conflict with such high civilian casualties and basically financing another genocide.
In the United States, many politicians show strong support for Israel, and the political pressure surrounding this topic is immense. For many, the events in Gaza have damaged the trust in Western world. And the saddest part is, you and me as an ordinary citizen cannot do anything. My money I was working for is used to finance a genocide. How do you think does this make me feel?
At the same time, the ongoing tragedy in Sudan is also heartbreaking, and it deserves far more global attention. However, unlike the conflict in Gaza, it is not primarily driven or financed by Western countries.
