Ah, that definitely happens. If you don't believe in building better, what do you believe in doing? How do you find meaning?

This not just happens, it /always/ happens one way or the other. Its the default, so to say. Its a consequence of the vast majorities reality denying state of mind. Inventors are captives of that, like small ships on the big sea ... and its /not/ their fault. For centuries and millenia humanity did not step above that. But it forces the even more difficult question onto the inventors: moral. Is the inventor willing to create something, that humanity twists around into yet another horible weapon? Or into destruction and waste of ressources, incl. time? ... consider Rudolf Diesel as example: some suspect he jumped off the ship cause he had to see how is motor is being put into tanks. Civilian ships he could accept - even though he aim for the motor was totaly different, stationary. But he certainly could not accept the "idea" of warships and tanks even less. Must have been horrific to him. An he has seen himself responsible! ... also, btw: naming the fuel "Diesel" nowadays is a great vituperation to the man as he never wanted this. He wanted humanity to /spare/ ressources through efficienty, so that forrests and nature in general can stay alive. He never intended to create a new market with yet another scale of environmental destruction and waste. But how many "engineers" since him care about his actual thinking and intentions?! ... and "improve" the wrong thing the wrong way with their life-workforce .... I do not believe. I know and want to know. Thats my meaning.
