I absolutely agree with you. But if the private interests are in favour of deregulation then we have an alignment and that's where my hope comes from.
X, Meta, Apple, Google, etc all have to spend more money and use more resources to comply with this shit. It's in their best interests to lobby against it.
Elon in particular is not shy about using his resources to advance his interests. Which repealing the OSA would do, as it hinders X's reputation as a free speech platform and means he needs to waste money complying with bullshit.
Elon and Farage are already buddies. They had a public spat but Elon does that all the time. Their alignment is obvious. Serves both their interests. Reform has been gassing up Elon calling him a "free speech hero" during all of this. They're obviously signalling to him that they're aligned.
And the end result is good for the people so I call that a win. I don't care what their reasons are, I care about results. Elon makes more billions if it's repealed? Good, that means there's an incentive to actually repeal it.
That's how I'm viewing this.
