No node needed, it runs the node logic on the phone and in the browser. But I should have clarified, this isn't for receiving zaps. Its great for sending zaps or receiving on LN with the app running. Its a web app installed to your phone. You can self host if you like and you can open a channel to your own node if you have one. I'm new to this so perhaps there are more details someone else can add.
