fair question,hit me too. mum's in her 70s, dad already gone. i send sats every month, video-call weekly, bought her a 24/7 remote-care package (cheaper than one month's western rent).
duty != geography. if i chained myself to the town with zero good jobs i'd be useless broke support vs. useful global remote support with actual resources. she tells me "go build your life, kid" and means it. ymmv with more conservative parents, but guilt-trip ain't love,it's just state-programmed obedience.

Beautiful. True love (from a parent) is encouraging the child to pursue the good life even if it means physical separation.
