Transliteration: Firat firat bhramate jan, saadhhoo poore gur samjhaayaa.
Meaning:
Wandering and roaming endlessly, the devotee finally meets the Perfect Guru, who gives true understanding.
Insight:
This describes our human condition — wandering through philosophies, religions, pleasures, or rituals — until true realization comes from meeting the Pooran Guru. The Guru doesn’t just give instructions; He awakens vision, showing that the Divine was always within.
⸻
An sagal bidh kaam na aavai, har har naam dhiaaiaa. ||1||
Meaning:
All other methods fail; only by meditating upon the Name of the Lord — Har Har — can peace be attained.
Insight:
This verse rejects dependence on outer devices — astrology, rituals, pilgrimages, cleverness — showing that only Naam Simran connects the soul to Truth.
⸻
Taa te moh dhaaree unat Gopaal.
Meaning:
Therefore, I seek the protection and shelter of the Sustainer of the world.
Insight:
Once intellect fails, surrender arises. This is the turning point from ego-effort (haumai) to Divine dependency (hukam).
⸻
Saran pario purakh parmesar, binase sagal janjaal. ||Rahao||
Meaning:
Taking refuge in the Transcendent Lord, all entanglements are destroyed.
(Pause and reflect)
Insight:
This is the essence — the Rahao line — the anchor of the Shabad. It means that Mukti (liberation) isn’t escape from the world, but dissolving the janjaal (attachments, worries, fears) through Divine remembrance.
⸻
Sarag mirat patiaal tu mandal sagal biaape maai.
Meaning:
Heaven, earth, the underworld — the entire cosmos is engrossed in Maya (illusion).
Insight:
Even heavenly realms are bound by illusion. It reminds us not to seek even celestial pleasures — they too are temporary. The Guru’s path is beyond duality.
⸻
Jeea udhaaran sabh kul taaran har har naam dhiaaai. ||2||
Meaning:
By meditating on the Name of the Lord, one’s own soul and entire lineage are liberated.
Insight:
Naam purifies not just the self but the entire kul (ancestral line), because one illuminated soul uplifts generations — spiritually and karmically.
⸻
Nanak naam niranjan gaaeeai, paaeeai sarab nidhaanaa.
Meaning:
O Nanak, singing the Immaculate Name, all treasures are obtained.
Insight:
The word Niranjan means “unstained by Maya.” Guru Sahib says: when we vibrate this Naam, it aligns us with infinite abundance — not material greed, but spiritual completeness.
⸻
Kar kirpaa jis dei su-aamee, birle kaahoo jaana. ||3||3||21||
Meaning:
Only that rare person, blessed by the Lord’s Grace, truly understands this truth.
Insight:
Grace (kirpa) is the final key. The understanding of Naam isn’t an intellectual gain but a Divine gift.
